DIY Bathroom Remodel on a Budget
I can’t tell you how excited I am that this is the bathroom renovation post. It was a while since I removed the bathroom wallpaper, and many months later, my husband and I started the renovation.
This post will feature some images and links with details. but ultimately, look for the video in the future. I will post it on my YouTube channel with more details and tips.
Let’s begin with what the bathroom looked like before the remodel. There was a wallpaper on the wall, but I removed it about one year before we started the renovation. I’m not against wallpaper, but this one was not my favorite.
We have a skylight, and we love it, but some parts of the bathroom don’t have lights installed. When designing the bathroom, I wanted to have a warm feel, and I think I achieved that.
I tried my best to keep the vanity and buy two sinks, but it was way more complicated, so we decided to buy a new vanity.
Now, the fun part: the bathroom transformed. It would be a lie if I told you everything I was planning happened. There were so many changes I had to make, and most of the time, I wasn’t happy, but when I had a vision of how I wanted something to look, it was hard to accept that it couldn’t happen.
I guess this whole process taught me a valuable lesson: IT IS OK NOT TO BE OK.
First, let’s start with the paint; I tried many types, but honestly, no matter how beautiful the paint is, it always returns to your lighting. So I finally made the decision, and we painted the boards with a mixture of 4 parts Swiss Coffee by Benjamin Moore and 1 part Creamy White” by Benjamin Moore in Matte.
Shea from Studio Mcgee used both paint colors, but my lighting wasn’t complimenting the Creamy white (which is such a beautiful shade), so I mixed it to lighten it up.
I can’t stop smiling while seeing all the images. The vanity is from Costco, but I had to add a little touch; I changed the door pulls with brushed gold. The hardware that came with the vanity was black, and honestly, it was beautiful, but I was going for a brushed gold look.
